LeRoy F. ‘Sonny’ Johnson, 83

OSWEGO, NY – LeRoy F. “Sonny” Johnson, 83, a resident of County Route 7, Oswego Town, passed away Wednesday January 22, 2014, at Oswego Hospital.

Born in the town of Oswego, he was the son of the late George and Marian (Laurent) Johnson.

He was a United States Army veteran.

He worked as a machinist for Black Clawson for more than 24 years, retiring in 1993.

He previously worked at Industrial Precision and Lagoe’s Machine Shop.

A life resident of Oswego Center, Sonny enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He played softball for Nunzie’s and Salvadore’s.

He was a SU basketball and football fan and enjoyed the Yankees and NY Giants.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 268.

Surviving are his wife, Gladys (Fetterly) Johnson; three daughters, Cathy Johnson of Wintergarden, Fla., Laurie (Greg Bracy) Johnson of Oswego Town and Deanne Crisafulli of Oswego; two sons, Terry (Lori) Johnson and Eric Johnson, both of Oswego Town; a brother, Wesley (Ethel) Johnson, of Florida; a sister, Doris Wiggins of Auburn; a brother-in-law, Robert Victory Sr.; four grandchildren, Cassandra Crisafulli, Michael Crisafulli, Terrance Johnson and Ashley Johnson; several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a brother, Paul Johnson; and sisters, Jeanette Victory, Evelyn Lawton and Rose Scruton.

Calling hours will be held 3-6 p.m. Tuesday with a service to follow at the Nelson Funeral Home, 11 W. Albany St., Oswego.

Spring burial will be in Oswego Town Rural Cemetery.
