Richard Edward Davis, 79

OSWEGO, NY – Richard Edward Davis, 79, a resident of the Hall Road in the town of Scriba, passed away Thursday November 22, 2012, at Seneca Hill Manor.

Mr. Davis was born in Meridian, the son of the late Norris and Mary (Anklin) Davis.

He was a veteran of the US Army, serving as a sergeant during the Korean War.

He was the co-founder of Davis Bros. Inc., in Scriba, where he worked for 51 years.

He had previously been employed, for 10 years, with the Nestle Corp. in Fulton.

He was a life member of the Elks Club, the American Legion, the Moose Club, the Scriba VFW, and the Hibernians.

Mr. Davis enjoyed snowmobiling and travelling, and was an avid sports fan.

He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

He was predeceased by his wife of 51 years, Betty Davis, who died in 2010; and his brother, Paul Davis.

Surviving are his children, William Davis, Kathy Davis and Pamela Caraccioli, all of Scriba; his sister, Marlene Taylor of Oswego; his grandchildren, Joshua Davis, Olivia Davis, Matthew Caraccioli and Jack Caraccioli; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

His children would like to acknowledge the loving care that their father received from all the staff at Seneca Hill Manor.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in St. Mary’s Church.

Entombment will be in All Saints Mausoleum, St. Peter’s Cemetery.

There will be no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Seneca Hill Manor, 20 Manor Drive, Oswego, NY 13126.

  1. the Davis family lived in Bowens Corners an we went to sch. together–i knew his sister marlene best-sorry for your loss

  2. Dick Davis was the rock solid foundation of a man who was always optimistic with a good sense of humor. He faced all obstacles in life, like a Lion. He was a selfless provider for his family & a wonderful husband to his loving wife Betty. He will be missed by many, leaving an imprint on every one he met.
