OSWEGO, NY – Shirley Danaher Enwright passed into the next world on Friday July 5, 2013, one day following her 85th birthday, at Oswego Hospital following a brief illness.
She was born on July 4, 1928, the only child of Thomas and Anna Danaher and was a lifelong resident of Oswego.
Following graduation from Oswego High School, she worked at Cyclotherm, the NY Telephone Company and retired from Oswego Hospital where she worked in the Medical Records Department.
In her earlier years, she enjoyed traveling, cooking and baking, knitting and reading a good mystery.
More recently, she treasured time spent with her family and friends and loved going out to lunch.
She was predeceased by her parents; her stepfather, John Cherry; and her husband of 63 years, Al Enwright.
She is survived by her three daughters, Dr Colleen (Dr Michael) O’Leary of Manlius, NY, Cindy (Dan) Farrell of Port Jefferson, NY and Jamie (Joe) Brancato of Oswego; grandchildren, Ryan Farrell and Nicholas and Kendra Brancato; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family is grateful to Barb VanHorn for the personal care, assistance and companionship she provided over the past year.
Mrs. Enwright requested that there be no calling hours.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church, 103 W. Seventh St., Oswego, on Monday at 11 a.m.
Nelson Funeral Home has care of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Shirley’s memory may be made to the Salvation Army, St Mary of the Assumption Church or a favorite charity.

Dear Family, I worked in Medical Records with your mother back in the 60’s and 70’s– we had great fun. We worked with Shirley Haynes. Your mother and father and Ronnie and I had great chats over the years when we would see them out to dinner. It’s wonderful to have good memories of the ones we loved and enjoyed–please accept our sympathies and know you are in our thoughts and prayers.
