PHOENIX, NY – Stephen C. Borte Sr., 63, of Mapleview Drive, Pennellville, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Wednesday January 16, 2013.
He was born to his late mother, Ruth (Archambo) and his father, Leo Borte on Aug. 13, 1949.
He was a graduate of JCB High School, Phoenix, NY, class of 1969, and a graduate from American School of Drafting.
Steve was an electrical designer for National Grid Co., Syracuse, for more than 30 years.
He was a life member of Caughdenoy Volunteer Fire Department; 14 years a member of Phoenix Fire Department.; enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson, loved spending time with family and friends, and the Three Rivers Camp.
He was predeceased by his mother, Ruth Archambo Borte, on April 12, 2012.
Surviving are his loving wife of 27 years, Tina M. (Thompson) Borte; his children, Stephen C. (Kristin) Borte Jr. of LaFayette, Lisa M. (Brandon) Batt of Walkersville, Md. and Todd J. Stoutenger of Pennellville; his father, Leo Borte of Zephyrhills, Fla.; six grandchildren; two aunts; several cousins.
Calling hours will be on January 26, from 1 to 4 p.m. in the Phoenix Fire Station, 457 Main St., Phoenix.
The service will follow at 4:05 p.m. in the same location, with Chaplin Robert Dalton of Phoenix F.D. officiating, as well as fire company members from Caughdenoy and Phoenix taking part.

To the Borte family, we were so sorry to hear about Steve. We had such a wonderful time with him at the shop with the Polaris Watercraft. He and his friend were always in competition. Young Steve has been a good customer and good friend for a long time also. We send our thoughts and prayers to the family as you go thru these difficult times. Always remember the wonderful memories you had with him and never let them go.
