OSWEGO, NY – Christine D. Cerklewich, 54, of Oswego, died Saturday January 19, 2013, peacefully at home with her family and four golden retrievers by her side.

She was born in Syracuse, NY, and she has been a Central NY resident for most of her life.

Christine D. CerklewichMrs. Cerklewich worked as the director of Oswego County Department of Social Services.

She enjoyed hiking with her family and her golden retrievers and she was an avid reader.

Mrs. Cerklewich was predeceased by her father, William Johnson, on December 25, 2012.

She is survived by her husband of 21 years, Paul Cerklewich of Oswego; and one daughter, Dr. Nicole Cerklewich of Binghamton, NY; five siblings: Deborah Auricchio, Edward Johnson, Jeffrey Johnson, Patrick Johnson and Joseph Johnson; her mother, Arlene Johnson; godmother, Valerie Dlugosz; and several nieces, nephews and close friends.

Funeral services will be held 9 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary’s Church, Oswego, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.

Calling hours will be held 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Sugar & Scanlon Funeral Home, 147 W. Fourth St., Oswego.

Burial will be held in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Oswego.

    So sorry for your loss, Chris was one of the best, even if she did prefer Goldens over Great Danes! Had lots of good times with you guys at DSS

  2. Nikki and family: My heart, prayers and thoughts are with you as you suffer the loss of your Mom. I lost my Mom when I was 24 so I understand the added grief of too little time spent together. I also understand that not only did you lose your Mom, you lost a best friend. Just know how loved you are by so many and let us all help to lift your burden. Muah.
