Gene M. Etchie, 79

FULTON, NY – Gene M. Etchie, 79, of Fulton, passed away on Sunday January 3, 2016, at Oswego Hospital after a brief illness.

He was born in Syracuse, NY, to the late Freeman and Eleanor (Michaud) Etchie.

Mr. Etchie was a longtime resident of Fulton until moving to Old Forge, NY, where he resided for 30+ years.

He was past employed with Container Corporation of America, Fulton.

Mr. Etchie was a past member of the Knights of Columbus, Fulton and communicant of Immaculate Conception Church, Fulton where he volunteered at bingo and the church bazaars.

He was a past participant of the Fulton Men’s Hockey team and he continued his volunteerism and participation in church and civic activities while living in Old Forge.

Mr. Etchie is survived by his children: Kathleen (Samuel) Vono of Fulton, Nancy (Rick) Bush of Oswego, NY, Karel (Robert) Collette of Fort Ann, NY, Timothy Etchie of Syracuse, NY, and Michael Etchie of Mexico, NY; two siblings: Daniel (Marion) Etchie of Little River, SC, and Carol (Howard) Tarolli of Liverpool, NY; 10 grandchildren: Carson, Spencer, Gabrielle, Maggie, Gina, Emily, Olivia, Quinn, Teddy and Cooper, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Holy Trinity Church, Fulton, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. James Schultz.

Burial will be held in the spring at Mexico Cemetery, Mexico.

There will be no calling hours.

Arrangements are in the care of the Sugar Funeral Home, Inc., 224 W. Second St. S., Fulton.

  1. I love you Uncle Gene. I hope that you are pain free and healthy up in Heaven. That you have a favorite chair to sit in as you look down here on earth to enjoy watching your children and all of your grandchildren. We will enjoy our wonderful memories ?
