John Edward Pierce, 69

FULTON, NY – John Edward Pierce, 69, of Palermo, NY, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday May 22, 2016.

He was born in Fulton, to the late Kyes and Leta (Kelley) Pierce.

Mr. Pierce was a resident of Fulton for most of his life until moving to Palermo eight years ago.

He was a United States veteran having served in the Army during the Vietnam War.

Mr. Pierce was past employed with Nestles, Co., Fulton, and later retired from the Fulton Consolidated School System after 35 years of employment.

He was a past member of the Fulton Elks Lodge.

Mr. Pierce was predeceased by his siblings: Doris Waite and Paul Pierce.

John is survived by his wife of 36 years, Ellen Pierce of Palermo; three children: their son, Troy Pierce of Fulton and his twins: Terry Pierce of Fulton and Sherry Pierce of North Carolina; two brothers: William Pierce of Fulton and Albert Pierce of Tennessee; three  grandchildren: Keisha Pierce, Jenna Capria and Tattiana Pierce; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the Sugar Funeral Home, Inc., 224 W. Second St. S., Fulton, with family friend Adele Haskins officiating.

Burial with military honors will be bestowed by the NYS Honor Guard at Upson Corners Cemetery, Central Square, NY.

Calling hours will be conducted from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Sugar Funeral Home, Inc., Fulton.
