FULTON, NY – John Fisher, 85, of Fulton, has moved to his eternal garden on Monday September 28, 2015.
John was embraced by his wife, children, grandchildren, and many friends during his final months by being in his constant and loving presence.
He was born in Fulton, to the late John and Ola (Drozda) Fisher.
Mr. Fisher remained a lifetime resident of Fulton while wintering in St. Petersburg, Fla., until recently when he moved to Baldwinsville, NY.
He was a United States veteran having served in the Marine Corps from 1948 to 1952.
Mr. Fisher retired in 1986 as a rural letter carrier with the United States Post Office, Fulton.
He was a former Holy Family and St. Michael’s parishioner.
Mr. Fisher was a member of the Fulton Garden Club.
He was a proud original member of the Fulton Gaucho Drum and Bugle Corps.
Mr. Fisher was predeceased by his siblings: Michael Fisher, Rose Frawley, and Mary Sable.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Eleanor (Wallace) Fisher of Baldwinsville; three children: John M. (Margaret) Fisher of Ithaca, NY, Douglas E. (Lana) Fisher of Florida and Michelle (Bill) Clark of Phoenix, NY; his brother, Andrew Fisher of Fulton; and sister, Anne Moosbrugger of Syracuse, NY; six grandchildren: Timothy, Dominic, Rita, William, Cole and Carson; two great-grandchildren: Elizabeth and Jackson; extended family: Nathan, Andrew, Elizabeth, Kaitlin, Greg, Connor and Talon; and several nieces and nephews.
“Grandpa Fish” also treasured his special relationships with numerous canine friends.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Monday at the Sugar Funeral Home, Inc. 224 W. Second St. S., Fulton, with Rev. Moritz Fuchs officiating.
Burial will be held privately.
Calling hours will be conducted 10 to 11 a.m. Monday in the Sugar Funeral Home, Fulton.

Here’s to a blue-ribbon father-in-law. You planted the strong roots of our family tree and tended to us all with quiet faith and support. You always said “yes,” and you always showed up. You have left us with abundant memories of your good work, shared meals, bright music and deep belly laughs. When it comes time for each of us to “go,” I know you will respond, as usual, to that famous question: “Grampa, can you come and get me?” In the meantime, have a sweet nap. You’ve certainly earned it.
He was a wonderful man, who with his wife, raised a wonderful family. I’m so sorry for your loss. But, I have this feeling he left you with so very much.
