Richard Emmons, 84

FULTON, NY – Richard Emmons, 84, of Volney, NY, passed away Sunday evening May 25, 2014, at University Hospital, Syracuse, after a short illness.

He was born in Fulton, to the late Nathan and Gladys (Coe) Emmons.

Mr. Emmons has been a resident of Fulton for most of his life.

He was a United States veteran having served in the Army Air Force from 1947 to 1949.

He was past employed with the Fulton Fire Department for 11 years and later retired from the United States Postal Service, Taft Road location after 26 years of service.

He was an avid Bingo player.

Mr. Emmons was predeceased by his grandson, Jeffrey Brown, in 2004.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Geraldine Emmons of Volney; five children,  Dianna (Joseph) Brown and Carol (Lewis) Palmer both of Volney, Frank (Jeanette) Emmons of California, Anita Wavercak of Fenner, NY, and Cynthia (Mike) Neverette of Baldwinsville, NY; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday in the Sugar Funeral Home, with Mr. Emmons’ granddaughter, Tammy Palmer, officiating.

Burial will be held privately.

Calling hours will be conducted from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday in the Sugar Funeral Home, 224 W. Second St. S., Fulton. missing or outdated ad config

  1. Uncle Dick was such a good man. He will be missed. But I am sure he was met in heaven by Tim, Lu and Jeff who are showing him around. Keeping Gerri and the family in prayers. Love you all.
