OSWEGO, NY – Rita L. Vona, 62, of Oswego passed away peacefully Tuesday June 27, 2017, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Rita was born in Oswego, the daughter of Delores Miceli of Oswego, and the late Mathew Miceli.
Rita worked for the city of Oswego, as the City Registrar, until her retirement in 2017 due to her illness.
Rita was also a sales representative for Avon.
She truly enjoyed life and was a loving wife and mother.
She is survived by her husband of 43 years, R. Michael Vona; their children, Kristopher (Leonor) Vona of Florida and Kimberly Vona of Florida.
In addition to her mother, Delores Miceli, Rita is also survived by her siblings, Marie (Robert) Steinburg of North Carolina, Joseph (Kathleen) Miceli of Oswego, Ann Miceli of Oswego, David (Maureen) Miceli of Fulton; and her brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was also predeceased by her sister, Cecelia King; and niece, Jacquelyn Miceli.
Funeral services and burial will be private.
Contributions may be made in Rita’s name to Friends of Oswego County Hospice, PO Box 102, Oswego NY 13126.
The Sugar Scanlon Funeral Home, 147 W. Fourth St., Oswego, is in care of the arrangements.
