FULTON, NY – William A. Jagnow, 96, formerly of Williamson, NY, died Monday September 21, 2015, in Oswego.
He was born in Williamson, the son of the late Frank and Clara (Meder) Jagnow.
Mr. Jagnow served in the United States Army infantry during World War II from 1941 until 1945 in the South Pacific.
He was the leader of his rifle squad.
Mr. Jagnow was the recipient of the American Defense Service Medal, the Asiatic – Pacific Service Medal, Philippines Liberation Ribbon and two Bronze Stars.
Mr. Jagnow was a punch press operator for Xerox in Rochester and a mink rancher.
He enjoyed carving wooden folk art and duck decoys.
He did masonry as a hobby where he specialized in foundations, fire places, and chimney work.
Mr. Jagnow is survived by his wife of 69 years, Mabel Jagnow and daughter, Judith (John) Rusho of Fulton; two grandchildren Douglas (Kristen) Rusho, of Fairport and Pamela (Gregory) Netti of Cheektowaga, NY; three great-grandchildren, Hannah Rusho, Brynn Rusho and Catherine Netti.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Richard and Edwin Jagnow.
Funeral services and burial will be private.
