William, Scriber, Port of Oswego Authority executive director and CEO, was included in the just published 2023 Economic Development Power 100 featured in City & State New York magazine. Scriber, who ranked at 79 on the list, was recognized among the “entrepreneurs, executives and officials bringing jobs back to New York.”
“This is a great honor for me,” Scriber said. “I consider myself the quarterback of a great team here at the Port that has unceasingly worked toward creating jobs and supporting the economic development of the region. Together, we have turned the port around!”
For example: In December 2018 the port had 19,887 metric tons of aluminum on site. “This December,” Scriber said, With both ship traffic and anticipated incoming railcars, we expect to be at 68,251 metric tons. That’s an increase of about 243 percent.”

The Port of Oswego set a record year in 2022, with shipping alone up over 300% compared to 2021, Scriber said. It’s also a Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) and its strategic location at the crossroads of the Northeastern North American shipping market puts them less than 350 miles from 60 million people.
