OSWEGO, NY – Oswego lacrosse teams were back in action on Tuesday as Liverpool provided the opposition.
In Liverpool, the OHS boys’ varsity lost 16-9 to the host Warriors for the first loss of the season. Iin Oswego at Wilber Field, the Lady Bucs lost 16-6.
In boys’ action, the game was tied 2-2 after one quarter, but Liverpool went on a second-period tear to outscore the Bucs 7-3 and build a 9-5 lead. Five more in the third by the home team put the game on ice.
Coach Doc Nelson said, “Despite the score I thought we did a lot of good stuff. Our special teams did well as Jon Kaplewicz won several faceoffs while Trent Yule was super in goal. We also had some different players score for us.”
Continuing he said, “The kids played hard throughout the game. Liverpool was bigger, faster and stronger in every position and they could all pass, catch and shoot on the run. They also had a very deep bench.”
Dom Cianfarano once again led the offensive effort for the Bucs with a four-goal day while Kaplewicz added three goals.
Colin Joyce and John Phillips each had a goal.
Dan Maniccia finished with four assists while Matt Lloyd, David Mathes and Phillips each had an assist.
In goal, Yule had 14 saves.
Lady Bucs Fall
Liverpool moved to 2-0 on the year with a 16-6 win over the Bucs at Wilber Field.
The visitors got off to a quick start and moved to a 3-0 lead before Oswego scored.
However, before the end of the first half the Warriors had put 14 goals in the net for a 14-2 halftime advantage.
In the second half, Oswego scored four times while giving up just two goals.
For the Bucs, Mikayla Place had three goals and an assist while Taylor Giglio had a goal and two assists, Sam McCarrick one goal and an assist, Alexa Healy a goal, Kaitlyn Armstrong an assist.
In goal, Tayler Bowman had seven saves while Hayley Lukaczyk finished with four saves.
