OSWEGO, NY – Oswego Speedway Public Relations Director Dan Kapuscinski presented to two separate groups of Fulton Junior High School students Thursday as a part of the school’s Career Day.
Kapuscinski, who will begin his fifth season as the Speedway’s PR Director in 2016, spoke with each group about the importance of good public relations and promotions practices as well as the many classroom lessons of today that can be applied to future professional applications.
“I was honored to have been invited to the Fulton Junior High to speak with several students about how I was able to take a childhood passion of mine and turn it into a professional career,” said Kapuscinski. “It was certainly a rewarding experience to share my daily routine, my passion for writing and creativity, and share my educational and work background to hopefully help give some real world advice and education to help students work toward the academic and social skills needed to thrive in the 21st century.”
During the two programs, Kapuscinski displayed several Oswego Speedway geared promotional videos and commercials, but also the many digital, print, and tradeshow materials used to help promote and market the Speedway on a daily basis.
At the conclusion of each program Kapuscinski presented each student a Speedway brochure, pencil, as well as a Buy One-Get One Free pass to the Speedway for select race events in 2016.
“The students were engaged and asked several questions, not only about public relations and promotions, but about the Speedway itself,” said Kapuscinski. “My main goal was to stress to the students that pretty much any hobby they may enjoy, or passion they may have – needs good PR, promotion, and marketing to support it. With today’s advances in technology and social media, some of our younger generations are already public relations pros; they just may not know it yet.”
The Fulton Junior High School Career Day welcomed more than a dozen community professionals to speak with students about their educational background and professional experiences. The program served as an informative experience for all students involved.
Kids 16 and under will again be admitted free at all Speedway events in 2016 with the exception of Budweiser International Classic Weekend and Race of Champions Weekend.
On track activity beings at Oswego Speedway on May 7 with the annual open test session for all racing divisions. Testing will run from 1-5 p.m. on May 7 and is free for spectators to sit in the main grandstand.
Racing action at the Speedway begins on May 14 featuring the Speedway’s 66th consecutive opening night highlighted by the Race of Champions Modified Richie Evans Memorial 61 as well as kickoff events for the Novelis Supermodifieds and Pathfinder Bank SBS.
