The following notice has been posted for Lake Ontario waters:
Remember the area around the Nine Mile Point Nuclear Facility is off limits to boating. The restricted area stretches 1,000 yards offshore and extends from the Alcan plant to the Sunset Bay area along Lake Ontario, east of the city of Oswego.

The water flow has been up and down in the last couple of days running between 7,000cfs and 800 cfs. This morning it is registering at 2,000cfs. Conditions have remained about the same with the addition of catfish throughout the river taking nightcrawlers, crayfish and stinkbait. Look for brown trout, steelhead and rainbows north of the Utica St. bridge. Look for walleye in the same area and near the lighthouse and flatrock. Boat anglers are using stickbaits; shore anglers are using stickbaits, nightcrawlers, bucktail jigs, leeches, and twister tails in the following colors – motor oil, black, chartreuse and green speckled. Bass are being taken on a catch and release basis only using minnows, worms, stickbaits, spinnerbaits and spoons. Sheephead are responding to crayfish, crankbaits, and nightcrawlers.

We have had some very nice weather and now we just need the browns and salmon to start cooperating.
Brown trout fishing has been slow but conditions have been less then perfect. Flat clear water, bright sun and a lot of south wind has made it tough sledding near shore. Lake trout have been saving our trips lately and it is good to see them returning to the eastern basin. Fish from Oswego east to Nine Mile Point in 110 to 140 feet of water.
Mexico Bay report:

Wish I could say that fishing is spectacular; however the past week can be described as challenging. Browns would bite real early and then go into their no bite mode. Lakers were more cooperative for those that sought them out. Let us hope the weekend will see things return to normal with the fish operating in their “hungry†mode. On thing is certain, if you want to catch, you need to fish.
Pulaski Area report:

With the warm weather pattern, things seem to be running a couple weeks ahead of schedule this year. With that in mind, the brown trout could be in transition to their summer pattern. There is no thermocline set up yet and the brown trout bite is spotty. Look in 30-50 feet of water off the planer boards and downriggers. The lake trout bite is very active right now in 120-130 feet of water particularly toward Nine Mile Point and cowbells and peanuts are suggested baits. Not a lot of salmon action to report.
Oneida Lake report:

The walleye action is good on Oneida Lake right now, although they are not as schooled as they have been. This means you will work a bit harder taking longer drifts. Fish deep in 25-30 ft. of water and look across the soft bottom. North of Buoy 109 midway to the north shore and in front of Lakeport at the first drop-off are good places to take the drift. Sonars and three-quarter ounce jigs, particularly black/purple, tipped with a nightcrawler are working well.

There is walleye activity being reported on the pond. Some anglers are finding a good bite but are reporting a number of under sized fish. Jigging and drifting worm harnesses are good applications.

Sandy Pond fishing has been good for bluegills, perch and walleye, but the big northern pike have been the real story lately. Look for a lot of action with large shiners, large spoons and live bait. Fish the drop offs and weedbeds.
