Oswego, NY – Preparations for the June 25-26th Tri-Oswego 2011 Triathlon are in full stride, and hundreds of participants, their families and friends are anticipated for the weekend of competition and fun-filled activities in Oswego, according to Ron Nelson, Tri-Oswego Race Director.
“Our generous sponsors have allowed us to make great strides in the development of the Tri-Oswego event,” said Nelson. “The planning process is going smoothly as the June 25-26 weekend draws closer.”
Sponsors for the USA Triathlon sanctioned event thus far include: Novelis, Sysco Foods, Michelob Ultra, Step One Creative, Pathfinder Bank, Oswego Health, NRG, Syracuse Bicycle, Xterra Wetsuits, County of Oswego, City of Oswego, Oswego YMCA, Best Western Captain’s Quarters, Econo Lodge Riverfront Hotel, Alliance Bank and Oswego Printing Company.
According to Nelson, the registrations have been coming in daily through the website for the upcoming event. Triathletes are encouraged to visit www.tri-oswego.com for event information and registration.
The event will include a Sprint Tri, Intermediate Tri, and Sprint Relay Tri event on Sunday, June 26th, while youth are encouraged to sign up for events and activities that will take place a day earlier on Saturday, June 25th.
The Sprint event includes an 800-meter swim, 13-mile bike course, and a 5K run. The Intermediate distance event includes a 1500-meter swim, 24.9-mile bike course, and a 10K run.

“The Oswego landscape will present a challenging course to the participating triathletes,” said Broadwell. “The beautiful scenery of Lake Ontario and the Oswego countryside will surely be a motivating factor as participants push themselves to the finish line.”
Participants that register early will have an opportunity to save on their entry.
