Fulton School District Winter Sports Recap
Athletic Director for the Fulton City School District, Christopher Ells presented a recap of the district’s winter sports season to the board of education at Tuesday’s (March 28) regular meeting.
NYS Governor, Andrew Cuomo announced last week the approval of Smart Schools Investment Plans for 52 school districts throughout the state, including Fulton City School District. The Smart Schools Bond Act, proposed by the Governor and approved by voters in 2014, allotted $2 billion to NYS school districts to heighten learning through technological and infrastructure enhancements. The NYS Education Department also recently announced that two elementary schools in FCSD have been identified as Local Assistance Plan (LAP) schools for the 2016-2017 school year. Fairgrieve Elementary School remains in LAP status for the second year in a row and is joined by Volney Elementary School identifying as a LAP school for the first time.
Fulton school district officials held a public presentation of the budget and numerous other propositions on this year’s ballot set for vote on Tuesday, May 17. Superintendent of Schools, William Lynch and Business Administrator, Kathy Nichols presented the material to a handful of public audience in the auditorium at the district’s Education Center on Wednesday (May 4). This year, the $70,336,500 budget brings forth a 2.47% spending increase from the current year budget with a tax levy increase of 0.43% and is categorized as a “status quo budget” meaning that all current staffing and educational services, programs and opportunities for students will be maintained.
