Senators Aubertine, Gillibrand get USDA to Reverse Ruling

After a strong push from state Senate Agriculture Chair Darrel J. Aubertine and U.S. Senate Agriculture Committee Member Kirsten Gillibrand, the United States Department of Agriculture has committed to changing its interpretation of a local foods provision of the 2008 U.S. Farm Bill to allow local farmers to slice and bag fruits and vegetables for school children to snack on.

Workshop to Discuss Strategies on Marketing Agricultural Products in a Global Economy

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Oswego County will be hosting a workshop on Tuesday, November 4, 2008 from 10 am till 2 pm entitled “Developing a Competitive Edge in a Global Agriculture Economy” to address concerns such as labor, food safety regulations, and the challenges in marketing agricultural produce on a global scale.  The agenda for the workshop follows:
