Oswego County Aerial Spray Is Postponed – Again
The Oswego County Health Department postponed its plans to spray an area of central Oswego County tonight due to the high winds. Wind speed is one of the many parameters used to make the determination to proceed with aerial spraying. Weather permitting, the department will resume aerial spraying Friday evening, Aug. 26.
City-County Youth Court Training Session Wraps Up
Nearly two dozen students from around the county are taking the first steps last week to becoming active members of the City-County Youth Court program. Youth Court is a Family Court diversion program aimed at reducing juvenile delinquency in the city and county of Oswego.
Striking Union Workers Speak At County Meeting
Members of IBEW Local 97 question the ability and training of the people currently operating Constellation Energy’s nuclear plants at Nine Mile Point. Some of the speaker urged the county to step in and get the two sides back to the bargaining table. Oswego County Legislature Chairman Barry Leemann said the county is concerned about the situation and is willing to assist.
County Legislature Committee Updated on Tax Cap Plan
New York State’s Senate and Assembly passed a bill June 24 that will cap property tax increases at 2 percent or the rate of inflation, whichever is lower.
School, Library Boards To Elect Officers
The Oswego City School District Board of Education and the Oswego Public Library board of trustees will both hold their annual reorganizational meeting today. County and city meetings are also on tap in Oswego.
