Port City To Pay DEC $10,000

The Common Council authorized the mayor to execute an Order of Consent/Stipulation with the NYS Department of Conservation. The city had been cited for alleged violations of the Federal Clean Water Act. The city will pay $10,000 and has agreed to other stipulations including submitting a revised operation and maintenance schedule of the West Side Wastewater Treatment Plant.

Central Square Timber Thief Sentenced

Matthew Todd Solomon, 43, of Constantia (Oswego County), has been sentenced in Oswego County Court to pay fines and restitution and do community service after being convicted of illegally cutting and removing trees on private property located in the Village of Central Square. The standing value of the timber that was cut and removed by Mr. Solomon was estimated by a certified forester at $10,120. […]
