Uranium Isotopic Separation, Air Filtration, the Study of Generation IV Nuclear Reactors and Fossil Fuel Electrical Generation and the Issues of Acid Rain, were some of the Oswego County high school students’ science projects at Entergy Nuclear’s fifth annual High School Science Competition held on Saturday, Feb. 6.
Thanks to the cooperative partnership between Entergy, the United Way, Success by Six, Oswego Sunrise and Noon Rotary as well as Fulton Rotary and the Oswego City School District, parents will have an opportunity to see that “Children do come with Directions.â€Â
Entergy has notified local and federal officials of a release of radioactive tritium into a storm drain.
It is less than 1/30th of the amount needed to trigger automatic notification of local, state and federal officials. Entergy said in the filing that because the tritium was found in a storm drain, the company decided it was prudent to notify officials anyway.
Operation Oswego County, the county’s designated economic development agency, recently received a $5,000 contribution from Entergy’s James A. FitzPatrick Plant to assist with promoting and marketing Oswego County to enhance businesses development opportunities to facilitate the retention and creation of employment.
