More than 100 years ago the city of Fulton’s strategic location on the Oswego River and the success of the Erie Canal system played a major role in the city’s growth as factories were built and commerce flourished along the Erie Canal. Those exciting times are part of the rich heritage of Fulton that will be brought to life in a colorful mural that will soon overlook the river and the Towpath Trail.
A quick note: Fulton’s Public Library will be closed Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Painters will be at work inside the library. Drop your due books into the book drop and there’ll be no fines charged. The library will reopen Saturday at 9:00 a.m.

Fulton Police say they tried to pull over John D. Halstead, Jr., 41, of 1065 St. Rt. 48, at about 2:03 a.m. Sunday after watching his speeding car hit a curb on W. 1st St. (Route 48) near Curtis St.
Police allege Halstead did not pull over. Instead, he hit the gas, hitting speeds of up to 80 miles an hour as he left the city on Rt. 48.
Air Force Airman Jeremy R. Becker graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.
The library received a donation from the 50/50 raffle and from local businesses. The money will be used towards the building of the Fulton Public Library elevator. This elevator project will be started by the end of August.
