Scene Around Town: Jreck Subs Hasn’t Closed, It Just Moved

It’s been there forever, or so it seems. Jreck Subs has held down the corner of S. 1st St. and Route 3 for decades, not that long after the old Victory Grill closed.

Now it’s gone. The sudden departure appears to have some folks wondering where Jreck went. They’ve even taken their question to the arbiter of all things retail, Post-Standard retail columnist Bob Neidt, who didn’t know either.

Here’s your answer: Jreck moved this week in the long-closed Cam’s NY Pizzeria building next to City Hall and Advance Auto Parts. The new owners tell our Fred Reed (who supplied the cell camera photo below) that they’ll be reopening “in a week or so”. Here’s their new home:

Rest easy, Fultonians. You can continue to enjoy “a meal for your money, not a snack”.

Volney Elementary School Sixth Grade Promotion Ceremony

Held on the students’ final day of elementary school, the ceremony was more about beginnings and futures as Principal Hendrickson encouraged the students to embrace learning as a lifelong activity and strive for greatness. Quoting the movie The Curious Case of Benjamin Button he said, “It’s never too late, or in my case too early, to be whoever you want to be… I hope you live a life you’re proud of. If you find that you’re not, I hope you have the strength to start all over again.”
