Fulton Seeks State Designation For Oswego River and Lake Neatahwanta
A local resolution has requested the addition of Lake Neatahwanta and the Oswego River to NYS Department of State’s listing of Coastal Waterways and Designated Inland Waterways. The resolution, unanimously passed through the Fulton Common Council, is the first step to receiving the state designation. If approved, Fulton’s waterfronts will join a listing of eleven Coastal Waterways and more than 120 Designated Inland Waterways.

Community Honors Amber Neivel, Supports Mourning Family
The Fulton community came together to honor the life of 39-year-old Amber Neivel after her body was discovered in the Oswego River on Sunday, April 9. Neivel’s two children, father, sister, and several relatives were showered with support from loved ones and strangers alike offering words of comfort and sorrow as the community hosted a candlelight vigil in her honor.

The community will hold a candlelight vigil in honor of 39-year-old Amber Neivel whose body was recently found in the Oswego River. Neivel was a mother to two children. The community is hosting a candlelight vigil in her honor on Thursday, April 20.

The Fulton Police Department has identified the body found in the Oswego River on Sunday, April 09, as 39-year-old Amber Neivel from New Haven, NY. Her death is considered suspicious and the investigation is ongoing at this time.
Brookfield Renewable Power Urges Anglers To Fish Safely At Varick Hydropower Dam On Oswego River
Brookfield Renewable Power announces that it has implemented enhanced safety tools and warnings for anglers who recreate on or near the company’s Varick Hydropower Dam on the Oswego River. These new tools and warnings supplement the already existing system of warnings, which included signage and a Fishermen’s Alert System, among other features.
Battle Continues Against Water Chestnuts
The water chestnut pulling by volunteers continued this past Saturday, on the Oswego River at the old Guard Lock #4, near Battle Island.
