The Oswego County Legislature voted Thursday to oppose a New York Power Authority project that would locate dozens of huge wind turbines in Lake Ontario. The vote was 20-4-1. Nearly 30 members of the Oswego County and surrounding area spoke about the pros and cons of the project for about two hours before the vote.
Fulton city lawmakers have approved a change to city law that will allow snowmobiles to run along Route 3 from the city’s western edge to Bullhead Point.
BREAKING: New York State would close Fort Ontario and 54 other state parks and historic sites to save money, under a plan released today.
The first Fort Ontario was built in Oswego in 1755.
Our friends at Oswego County Tourism will be out and about this weekend, drumming up business (and sales tax dollars) for the county. They’ll be at the Great Northeastern Sports Show at the State Fairgrounds.
The invasive species looms as a significant threat to the Oswego River and other bodies of water – including Lake Ontario. It could cost the county a significant amount of lost tourism revenues if allowed to spread further.
