Thomas F. Dorval, Jr., 72, of Fulton, died Friday at home.
Born in Oswego he was a life resident of the Oswego – Fulton area. Tom retired in 2000 after 37 years from Nestle Co. in Fulton as a Master Refiner Operator. He had previously been employed at many local factories in the Fulton area. Tom was an Army National Guard veteran serving from 1955 to 1956. He had wintered in Las Vegas for 6 years, enjoying visits to many of the casinos. Tom had a love for scratch off lotto tickets. He played them every day. He was predeceased by his mother, Dorothy (Jones) Dorval; father, Thomas Dorval, Sr.; and brother, C. Robert Dorval.
Surviving; his wife of 43 years, Ora Lee Calkins Dorval; daughters, Darci (Richard) Bowering, Charrise (Jeff) St. Onge and Sandra (Thomas) Peninger; a sister, Shirley (Gerald) Galletta; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held Wednesday 4 to 7 p.m. at the Fulton Elks Club, 57 Pierce Drive, Fulton. Burial will be at Jacksonville Cemetery, Lysander.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Oswego Oncology, Mary and Charley Haney Fund, 140 West Sixth Street, Oswego, 13126. Foster Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Bryan, Steven and I are saddened to learn of Tom’s passing. He was truly one in a million and the kindest of men. I think he knew just about every person in Fulton. He always stopped to talk to everyone he met and always had a smile on his face, spoke an encouraging word or made a friendly comment when he saw you. He will most certainly be missed by all who knew him. God bless you all and may God give you strength during this difficult time.

Sorry to hear of Tommy’s passing. “Tommy’s industrial knowledge of chocolate refining was unparalleled. Tommy and I worked together during a lean Nestle audit, we had so much fun during that time. I quickly found that he is was very creative at finding and applying lean solutions to the complexity of the audit. Tommy was a joy to work with, our days went by very quickly and he always had something nice talk about. I will never forget about his Imaginary bicycle story. When Tommy was a fairly new employee at Nestle’, he had a Imaginary bicycle. One evening, everything was running smoothly in the Refining Department, it was quite and Tommy decided to take his imaginary bicycle out for a ride. When Tommy rounded the corner of the Refining Department, he ran into the Refining Foreman. The Nestle Foreman took his imaginary bicycle away and he never rode it again. Tommy was so descriptive and animated when telling his story, it was one that will never be forgotten.

This past March, we ran into Tom at Strupplers (wonder what he was doing there?) right after my husband was diognosed with acute leukemia, he came out to the car and talked to Tony for quite a while–we both appreciated his words of encouragement—sadly, my husband passed away in May.

Shirley I am so sorry to hear of Tommys passing…it seems like yesterday we were all kids on East Seventh Street…many great memories….my deepest sympathies go out to you and your family…Dorothy Castaldo
So sorry to hear of Mr. Dorval’s passing. I worked with him for many years @ Nestles. He was a kind & considerate man, a gentle soul. My sincere sympathies to the Dorval family.
