County Sets Budget Public Hearing
Oswego County residents will have the opportunity to weigh in on the proposed 2011 spending plan at 7 p.m. Dec. 9. . A couple attempts to create more savings at Wednesday’s legislature meeting failed. Plans to purchase 12 new vehilces for the sheriff’s department and new furniture for the DSS moved forward.

Nine Mile 1 Shuts Down After Valve Malfunctions
Spokesperson Jill Lyon said that at about 10:56 a.m. Wednesday, a main steam isolation valve closed on its own. The malfunction caused the reactor to begin an automatic and orderly shutdown.
Lyon said the shutdown went according to plan and the plant is in “a safe and stable condition.”
