As part of Oswego County Opportunities (OCO)’s recognition of May as National Mental Health Awareness Month, the agency’s Mental Health Residential Program is looking to erase the fears or misconceptions that may exist in relation to psychiatric illness.

On Thursday, Mike Petruzzelli told the members of the Oswego Sunrise Rotary about Silver Sneakers. Silver Sneakers is a program that helps older adults take grater control of their health by encouraging physical activity and offering social events.

13th Annual Literacy Volunteers Captain and Crew Golf Tourney Tees Off August 15

Literacy Volunteers of Oswego County’s (LVOC) 13th Annual Golf Tournament will be held at the Oswego Country Club on August 16.  Shown enjoying last year’s tournament is the Oswego County Federal Credit Union team, from left to right: Tom Conzone, Joann LaTulip, Jean Berlin and Mike Czerow. County Marks Motorcycle Awareness Month

Members of the Oswego County Chapter of ABATE (American Bikers Aimed Toward Education) gathered recently with Oswego County Legislature Chairman Barry Leemann to encourage safe riding practices and observe Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month. Pictured in the center are ABATE president Jim Waterman receiving a proclamation from County Legislature Chairman Leemann. Members of ABATE meet the first Sunday of every month at Maple View Family Restaurant. It would have been hard to ask for better weather on the opening day of the Oswego Farmers’ Market. An hour before the event started, West First Street was much quieter than a regular day; but by the new 4:30 p.m. starting time it was clear that people were excited to see what vendors were offering.
