Oswego State Downtown to show works of ‘plein air’ painter

SUNY Oswego senior Joseph Ray will exhibit his plein air (painted outdoors) works, including "The Blue Trail #1," from March 9 to April 7 at Oswego State Downtown. A free artist's reception will begin at 5 p.m. March 30, at the store and gallery, West First and Bridge streets.SUNY Oswego will show the works of Joseph Ray, a senior from Marcellus, in an exhibition of his “plein air” paintings titled “Nature Through Abstraction” March 9 to April 7 at Oswego State Downtown. Sandra Scott Travels: The Mardi Gras Season Is Upon Us

CarnavalThe Mardi Gras Season in Lake Charles begins on “Twelfth Night” (January 6) and ends on Fat Tuesday, which is the day before the Lenten season begins. This year Fat Tuesday falls on February 21. Anytime during this period is the perfect time to enjoy King Cakes – they are delicious, colorful and fun. While we were in Lake Charles, Louisiana, we visited the Mardi Gras Museum.

2012 St. Baldrick’s Fundraiser Gets Bigger Than Ever

St. Baldrick’s Foundation, a volunteer-driven charity dedicated to raising money for childhood cancer research, will host one of its signature head-shaving events at SUNY Oswego’s Campus Center Food Court where (hopefully) more than 75 anticipated “shavees” will shave their heads in solidarity with kids with cancer.

Oswego State Men’s Ice Hockey Blanks Rivals

Another chapter was added to one of the most storied rivalries in college hockey as Andrew Hare registered 27 saves to give the No. 1-ranked Oswego State men’s ice hockey team a 3-0 win over fourth-ranked Plattsburgh Friday night in front of a sellout crowd. It was Hare’s second shutout of the season that locked the top seed in the conference playoffs for the Lakers.
