Oswego State Downtown to show works of ‘plein air’ painter
SUNY Oswego will show the works of Joseph Ray, a senior from Marcellus, in an exhibition of his “plein air” paintings titled “Nature Through Abstraction” March 9 to April 7 at Oswego State Downtown. The free artist’s reception will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. March 30, at the store and gallery, West First and Bridge streets.
The Tug Hill/Black River Chapter of Trout Unlimited in cooperation with the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation will sponsor a two-day fly-fishing seminar for women June 2 and 3 on the Salmon River in Altmar.
The Mardi Gras Season in Lake Charles begins on “Twelfth Night” (January 6) and ends on Fat Tuesday, which is the day before the Lenten season begins. This year Fat Tuesday falls on February 21. Anytime during this period is the perfect time to enjoy King Cakes – they are delicious, colorful and fun. While we were in Lake Charles, Louisiana, we visited the Mardi Gras Museum.
