Governor Andrew Cuomo has written a letter to Senator Patty Ritchie on the success of the just-completed legislative session, hailing unprecedented, bipartisan efforts that have resulted in sweeping tax cuts, new jobs and an improving economy as proof that “This is a New York that is working.”

Each July 1 all of the presidents in the more than 34,000 Rotary clubs in the world change their leadership. New leaders bring forth “new ideas” thus fostering progress in community service.

Working in collaboration with United Way, other area school districts and more than 20 business and organizations, the annual Stuff-A-Bus campaign collects donations of school supplies for distribution to less fortunate students throughout Oswego County.

Several area residents are among nearly 50 college and university students taking part in hands-on learning in SUNY Oswego’s Global Laboratory network at science labs around the world in July.

Oswego Health, which co-sponsors the annual Harborfest Children’s Parade, has invited the Silver Knights to walk in the parade to promote healthy habits and good nutrition. The parade will begin at 9:45 a.m. in West Park and ends Breitbeck Park.

Brush off your eye patch, grab your parrot and sign up for a Kids’ Pirate Party on July 17 (1 – 3 p.m.) or July 25 (10 a.m. – noon).
