Friends of Great Bear has scheduled an invitational meeting for people interested in helping at Great Bear Springs Recreational Area. Great Bear Springs is a non-motorized, share the trails recreational area, encompassing over 400 acres, with several miles of marked trails, located adjacent to Route 57 in the town of Volney. The meeting will be held at the Fulton Y on April 17 at 7 p.m., room D.
Peruvemba Narayanaswamy, 85, a resident of West Lake Road, Oswego Town, passed away Wednesday April 10, 2013.
Bowen’s Corners United Methodist Church is preparing for its Annual Spring Rummage Sale and Bake Sale. The event will be held April 26 and 27 at the church which is located at 758 State Route 176, just west of Fulton. Hours are 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. each day.
Tonight (April 11), the county legislators are likely going to vote in a fellow legislator (as treasurer) who has 28 years experience being a legislature not an accountant. If you feel so inclined, call your legislator and ask him why they aren’t giving the added fiscal responsibility to the county’s chief accountant? These are tight times and we don’t need this extra expense when there’s a more efficient way to do it. It doesn’t even have to be a Democratic/Republican issue, its just the right thing to do!
It is not only illegal, but extremely unsafe, to pass a school bus with their red lights flashing, whether approaching from the front or from the rear of the bus. Flashing lights signal that a bus is stopped for either loading or discharging students.

In a physical, back-and-forth battle, the Oswego State men’s lacrosse team dropped another heartbreaker in an 11-10 double-overtime decision at Potsdam Wednesday night. Kyle Nicholas proved to be the hero for the Bears, as he scored the game-tying goal and the game-winning goal with 1:42 left in the second extra frame.
