Jessica Naioti had trouble finding childcare for her 2 ½ year old son, Benjamin. Seeing this need for drop-in childcare in Oswego County, as well as a place for teens to hang out inspired the idea for Sunshine Community and Childcare Center, located on Schuyler Street in the former Red’s Videos storefront.

SUNY Oswego’s Leave Green sale, continuing 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in the Campus Center’s Swetman Gymnasium, takes days of collecting students’ donated food (already given to area food pantries), clothing, electronics, books and other goods, followed by more days for setup.
Authorities are searching for the cause of Thursday’s fire in Granby. Multiple fire departments responded to the fire on County Route 8 near Cedarwood Drive shortly after 5 p.m. There were no reports of any injuries.
On Thursday, the Oswego Fire Department units along with Animal Control personnel responded to a report of a deer stranded on the rock wall in the center of the river. Fire Department personnel responded in the fire/rescue boat and carefully eased the deer to shore to awaiting animal control personnel.

Love and marriage and the nuclear family take a comic turn this June as Fulton Community Theatre proudly presents Lawrence Roman’s “Alone Together.” The play, part of FCT’s 23rd season, will run weekends June, 1, 2, 8, 9, 15, and 16 on the Jubilee Hall stage of Holy Trinity Parish, 309 Buffalo St.
