The NJHS was formed a year ago with two separate ceremonies for the seventh and eighth graders. However, recently the newest inductees were honored at ceremonies in the Oswego High School Robinson-Faust Theatre for the Performing Arts. “Scholarship, leadership, service, character and citizenship” are the pillars of the National Junior Honor Society.

Last week, I had the opportunity to spend time with more than a dozen local heroes, all nominees for the New York State Senate Veterans Hall of Fame program. The Hall of Fame pays tribute to New Yorkers who have served their country in the US Armed Forces and made significant contributions to their communities. 29 brave men and women from Oswego, Jefferson and St. Lawrence counties were nominated for this special program.
The Fulton Youth Team Tennis League is now open for registration. Youths from age 13 to 19 will be teamed up for supervised match play every week. Matches will be Tuesdays June 18, 25, 27, July 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the G Ray Bodley courts and the Van Buren Park Tennis courts.
For two weeks, starting on May 20, the Fulton Police Department, along with law enforcement agencies across the state, will participate in the 2013 Buckle Up New York, Click it or Ticket May mobilization. The goal of this program is to increase seatbelt use and as a result reduce the number of personal injury and fatal crashes.
Fabric artist Jill Luigs will display her colorful works from June 1 to July 6 at Oswego State Downtown in “At Last,” an exhibition with autobiographical meaning. A free public artist’s reception will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. June 6, at Oswego State downtown, a branch of SUNY Oswego’s College Store at the corner of West First and Bridge streets.
Harry Boltz of Fulton recently graduated from Champlain College. Boltz received a Bachelor of Science degree in Game Art and Animation with a possible specialization and/or minor.

Rob was presented with the ‘Male Musical Tribute Artist of the Year’ award at the annual Celebrity Impersonator Convention in Las Vegas. He will perform on May 25 at 8 p.m. at the 32nd annual Fulton Memorial Day Salute.
The Fulton Boys’ Lacrosse Program held a fundraiser car wash/bottle and can drive on Saturday May 11 at Lakeview Lanes. A big thank you goes out to the community, despite the gloomy weather people came out to show their support for the boys.
