Cayuga CC Board of Trustees works to balance College budget through furlough days and wage concessions for employees
During a special meeting Monday night, the Cayuga Community College Board of Trustees voted 6 to 3 to accept agreements with the four college bargaining units. This action prevents employee layoffs and will balance this year’s operating budget. The college needed to reduce expenditures of its $32.36 million operating budget by approximately $1.5 million before the end of the fiscal year on August 31, 2013, to help make up for an unexpected 5 percent enrollment decrease.
SAF Program Visits Stepping Stones
The Oswego County BOCES Stepping Stones Day Program in Fulton has partnered with Services to Aid Families (SAF) for an ongoing school-based educational program that includes a focus on every day heroes in the community, safe choices, and violence awareness.
Oswego Council Moves Ahead With Parking Lot Proposal
The idea is to see what the cost estimate would be and what the design could be for the parking lot on Water Street, which could possibly be on two levels and bring retail kiosks and perhaps even mixed use development down to the River Walk, according to city officials.
Harold J. Goodale, 77
Harold “Sonny” J. Goodale, 77, a former resident of Oswego died Sunday evening May 12, 2013, in the Cayuga Medical Center in Ithaca.

Great Regional and National Talent Coming to the 32nd Annual Memorial Day Salute
The 32nd annual Memorial Day Salute, May 24 and 25, held at the Fulton Community Center on West Broadway, will feature the Magical Mystery Tour. This popular Central New York Beatle Tribute Band will perform on May 24 at 7 p.m. and will be sponsored by National Grid. On May 25 Rob Garrett “King of Diamonds,” a Neil Diamond Tribute Band, sponsored by Fulton Savings Bank, will take the stage at 8 p.m.
CAC Welcomes New Board Members
Executive Director of the Child Advocacy Center of Oswego County, Karrie Damm, welcomed a new slate of officers to the CAC board of directors during the agency’s annual meeting. Damm is grateful for the dedication and commitment of the board members to the mission of the CAC.
Talk on Linden Trees by Professor Venera Jouraeva set May 15
The Oswego Tree Stewards will meet Wednesday, May 15, at 7 p.m. in the third floor conference room at City Hall. Cazenovia professor Dr. Venera Jouraeva will talk about Linden Trees. The title of her talk is “Role of Linden Trees and Their Ecosystems in Accumulation and Decomposition of Fine-Particle-Associated Carcinogens.”
Hannibal Historical Society annual banquet planned
On June 3 at 6:30 p.m. the Hannibal Historical Society will honor Louie Gilbert at its annual banquet being held at the Hannibal United Methodist Church on the corner of State Route 3 and West Street in the village of Hannibal. A roast beef dinner will be served.
