At a recent Fulton Sunrise Rotary meeting, 2012-2013 President Patrick Waite was awarded the coveted Paul Harris Fellow. Paul Percy Harris (April 19, 1868 – Jan. 27, 1947) was a Chicago attorney best known for founding Rotary International.
The Oswego City-County Youth Bureau will sponsor several performances in July through the Traveling Arts in the Parks series. Each event is free and open to the public. Wade Live performs at 10 a.m. July 10 at the Fulton War Memorial and at 1:30 p.m. at the David C Webb Memorial Park at Taft Bay, Constantia.
The second weekend run of Oswego Players’ summer musical, ‘Mame’ will start July 12 at 8 p.m. and play Saturday, again at 8, and Sunday at 2 p.m. Directed by Inez Manor Parker and Abel Searor, it is a visual and vocal delight.
A large crowd lined Bridge Street on Sunday afternoon to take in the 2013 edition of Oswego’s Independence Celebration Parade.Crowds on both sides of the river were treated to a variety of music, classic cars and many other patriotic floats. Leading the way was the Oswego High School Marching Buccaneers.
Catherine E. Abbott, 83, of Minetto, passed away on Saturday July 6, 2013, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Syracuse.
A huge holiday crowd with fireworks on the track and in the sky saw the fourth of July holiday weekend end with a bang at the Fulton Speedway Saturday night. On the track, the two big divisions, the Tracey Road Equipment Big Block Modifieds and the Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints saw their feature and A-Main come down to last lap, tight finishes, with Jim Witko Jr. and Bryan Howland standing in victory lane.
One week after seemingly nothing could go right at Oswego Speedway, nearly everything did, with the running of Toys for Tots ‘Christmas in July’ presented by Days Inn/Knights Inn of Oswego on Saturday night.
