On November 9, the Milton J. Rubenstein Museum of Science and Technology hosted the annual Build ’Em and Bust ’Em Bridge Building Competition for 600 pupils from local elementary, middle and high schools throughout Central New York. Working during study halls and after school, student teams designed and built balsa wood bridges in the Kenney Middle School Technology Education classroom under the direction of technology teacher Gregory Bailey.
The Oswego High School Yearbook Club recently attended the Empire State Scholastic Press Association Fall Conference at Syracuse University, and was the recipient of a number of awards related to the 2013 edition of The Paradox. The overall year book received the state organization’s highest award of Gold Level rating, identifying the program as one of the best in New York State.
The State University of New York Athletic Conference has released its 2013 Field Hockey All-Conference Teams, which include two members of the Oswego State squad. Seniors Ashley Collins and Ashley Fiorille both earned the honor with Collins named to the First Team and Fiorille placed on the Second Team.

The villains in the thriller “Wait Until Dark,” SUNY Oswego’s fall student honors production, conspire to seize a drug-filled toy from a Greenwich Village apartment. The 1966 Frederick Knott play in Tyler Hall’s lab theatre will preview at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 19, and run at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 20 to 23, with a finale at 2 p.m. Nov. 24.
The State University of New York recently selected a painting by recent SUNY Oswego graduate student Toni Burrows to hang in an exhibition of 20 student abstract artworks from around the 64-campus system in the SUNY Global Center in Manhattan.
Clare I. Souva, 76, a resident of County Route 57 in the town of Volney, passed away Wednesday November 13, 2013, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
