With the holiday season in full swing, members of the Leadership Program in the Phoenix Central School District are doing their part to make spirits bright. The program, spearheaded by community member and volunteer service coordinator Cathy Lee, sponsors several initiatives throughout the year to aid local residents in need and help beautify the village.
Excelling on the field of play and in the classroom, Phoenix Central School District athletes earned recognition for their achievements at the end of the fall sports season.
Members of Cayuga Community College Fulton Campus’ Veterans Club, Tutor Club, Green Team, PTK (Honor Society), American Sign Language Club, Gaming Club, Early Childhood Club, Nursing Club, Healthy Living Club, and Business Club recently collaborated on a clothing drive to benefit the thrift shop at Catholic Charities of Oswego County.
Kayleigh Moyer, a native of Pennellville, will appear on the nationally televised “Christmas at Belmont” concert airing this season on PBS.
The Oswego girls’ varsity hockey team went on a three-day odyssey through the Adirondacks last weekend, playing Saranac Lake, Lake Placid and Beekmantown in three consecutive days. The Lady Bucs were victorious in all three contests, raising their overall record to 4-2-1 going into Thursday’s home game against league rival Ithaca.
Career and Technical Education students enrolled in the Floral Design and Greenhouse Technology program at Oswego County BOCES joined Cornell Cooperative Extension of Oswego County for a Holiday Farmers’ Market during the “Christmas In Mexico” weekend in early December.
At about 1 p.m. on Monday, Robert Harry Schebell, 38, of 24 Homested Ave., Phoenix, was arrested for three counts of third-degree sexual abuse, a class B misdemeanor and Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a class A misdemeanor.
