The Youth Advocate Program of Oswego County will host a Community Day event on August 3 from 1 – 4 p.m. at Foster Park. All Oswego County community members, as well as former and current YAP families are invited to attend.
Several students were nominated for the STARR Character Award at the Frederick Leighton Elementary School.

Numerous studies have shown that the temperature inside a parked car, even in the shade, even with the windows cracked, can easily rise 20 degrees or more in just ten minutes.
“Following that game there was little time for celebration as we were informed that we need to be in Montgomery, NY on July 8 for the NYS Championship Tournament. To make that trip, we need to raise $5,000 to cover our expenses,” the coach said.
The Maggie Sue Glenister Wilcox Foundation’s recent efforts raised more than $2,000. The family wants to make sure the public is educated about EEE, so that no other family has to go through what they have. The ultimate goal is to one day have a vaccine available to the general public. The deadly virus took the life of the foundation’s Maggie Sue Glenister Wilcox in the fall of 2011.
Abigail McPherson received the Laurie Godfrey Memorial Award for Creative Writing at the annual Frederick Leighton awards assembly. Lorraine Smith, Laurie’s mother, presented the award.
