Every other Friday the technology students at The BUC Junior-Senior High School conducted “Souper Friday.” As part of the technology requirement the gourmet cooking class prepares a specialty soup and delivers it to school district employees.
The college officially inducted baseball player Bob Brutsch of the class of 1971, swimmer Anne Sarkissian DeRue ’04, wrestler Brian V. McGann ’70, and lacrosse and soccer player Kathryn “Kat” Stead ’04 during a ceremony Nov. 2 in Sheldon Hall ballroom on campus. “This year’s honorees represent some of the best athletes in Oswego State’s long athletic history,” said event organizer Laura Pavlus, interim director of alumni and parent relations.
The employees of Entergy made a generous donation to the Fitzhugh Park Elementary School “Care and Share’ program. They gave a substantial number of winter coats, hats, snowpants and gloves. Student Council members helped sort the many bags of clothing.
The historic lodge at Camp Zerbe will be repaired in 2014 and made available to the public, thanks to grants from the Shineman Foundation and the NYS Office of Parks, Recreation, and Historic Preservation. Camp Zerbe, a 364-acre nature park located in the town of Williamstown, is owned by Oswego County and operated by the Oswego City-County Youth Bureau.
