March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month

It is estimated that one in 20 people will develop colorectal cancer during their lifetime. “Each year in New York State, more than 10,000 people develop cancer of the colon and rectum, and nearly 3,500 New Yorkers die from this disease,” said Carolyn Handville, coordinator of the Cancer Services Program of Oswego County.

6 Steps to Better Balance class begins April 2

The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program, a division of SUNY Oswego’s Office of Business and Community Relations is now accepting registrations for a six-week workshop on falls prevention called “6 Steps to Better Balance.” This six-step approach to better balance was developed by Betty Perkins-Carpenter, Ph.D., of Senior Fitness Productions.
