There are many in our local communities who donate their time and talents to make sure that others do not go without around the holidays. I like reading the news this time of year and finding stories about charities that were helped or how one person can inspire others to give, and even save a life.
There are countless other volunteer efforts, too various to mention here, but one thing is clear: we are a community of givers. I, for one, am proud to be a part. Happy Holidays to you and yours.

Winter Walk Through History Planned At Fort Ontario

Fort Ontario State Historic Site’s first “Winter Walk Through History” is scheduled for January 1, 2015. The event will feature a narrated historical stroll around the grounds and buildings of the old 75-acre military reservation. Led by AmeriCorps staffer and historian Mitchell Manniccia, the walk will begin at 10 a.m. in the Enlisted Men’s Barracks inside the old stone fort.
