On August 8 Ronald McDonald will bring his fun to all the fans in attendance and will also have a meet and greet with all the Junior Fan Club members. Joining Ronald will be another well-known McDonald’s character, Hamburglar.
With the one-year anniversary of its operations approaching, the leadership at K&N’s Foods USA in Fulton is feeling optimistic about where the company is headed. Located in the former BirdsEye Foods plant on Phillips Street, K&N’s began setting up shop in Fulton — its flagship operation in the United States — in 2013, and started commercial production on Aug. 4, 2014. By the end of September 2014, it had completed its first sale, and has continued lining up new distributors since.
Erma J. Payne, 92, of Phoenix, NY, (Hinmansville), passed away on Sunday August 2, 2015, at Michaud Health Services, Fulton, where she had been a resident for a short time.
George Allan “Skeet” Henry, 79, of Altmar, passed away at home on Saturday August 1, 2015.
This past Saturday, a group of 12 volunteers hand-pulled the invasive water chestnuts from the Battle Island area of the Oswego River. The establishment of water chestnut can result in large floating mats of vegetation that “clog” aquatic habitats and limit the penetration of sunlight into the water column, impeding the growth of native plants and ultimately disrupting the food web.

Oswego Hospital recently welcomed Wajeeh Sana, MD, as Medical Director of Emergency Services. Dr. Sana attended medical school in Pakistan and completed his family medicine residency at St. Vincent’s Mercy Medical Center in Toledo, where he served as chief resident.
From first concept to completed painting Thi Huynh considers her art lesson with Don Gillespie during the third week of Arty Camp. The camp is running three more weeks at CNY Arts Center at the Studio in downtown Fulton at 47 S. First St.
Lakeside Artisans, 191 W. First St., is hosting a series of demonstrations by local artisans on Thursdays, from 5 to 7 p.m., during the Oswego Farmers’ Market. Kicking off the month of August is a demonstration by Diane Chepko-Sade, on August 6, of her colorful fused glass pieces.
