Campus To Offer Public Recreation, Education, Sports Action This Winter
SUNY Oswego President Deborah F. Stanley has extended a Cruisin’ the Campus invitation to residents and visitors throughout the community to enjoy family outings from Dec. 21 to Jan. 24 as the college’s recreational facilities, athletic events and venues for discovery, fitness, fun and shopping remain open during college students’ winter break.

Calling All Kids For Seussical Jr Auditions
Auditions will be held December 15 and 16 from 6-9 p.m. at CNY Arts Center, 11 River Glen Drive on the Cayuga College Fulton campus. The production will be directed by Adam Schmidtmann who just completed a successful directorial debut with Oliver.

Nicholas LaFlair, of Central Square, will graduate with 474 other Millersville University of Pennsylvania students during the December 2015 undergraduate commencement ceremony held on Sunday, December 13.

Economist Proposes Fee on College Students To Ease Financial Burden On City
Dr. Laurence Malone, a Hartwick College economics professor, presented his plan for a new revenue source for small cities in Upstate New York, including Oswego. His proposal, to add a $100 fee ($50 per semester) to SUNY college students’ bill would greatly alleviate much of the financial stress several upstate college cities are facing.

The Clubhouse Tavern of Oswego recently coordinated a charitable fundraising event, and attendees were asked to bring non-perishable food items for donation to the United Way of Greater Oswego County as an effort to end hunger in our community.

Prison Sentences Imposed On Child Abusers
On Monday (December 7), Andrew L. Gaurin, 26, of West Monroe, was sentenced by the Hon. James McCarthy, Oswego County Supreme Court, to 10 years in state prison and 20 years post-release supervision based upon his conviction for Criminal Sexual Act in the First Degree, a Class B Felony. Two others were also sentenced.

Oswego Minor Hockey ‘Mite Before Christmas Tournament’ to Support Neighbors in Need
The 30th edition of Oswego Minor Hockey Association’s Mite Invitational Tournament will support community members in need at the holidays. “The Mite Before Christmas Tournament”, will collect non-perishable goods and gently used winter clothing. The tournament will take place on Saturday, December 12.
