The talented group of seventh and eighth grade students under the direction of Paul Brewster performed a variety of selections that demonstrated their remarkable range, and spotlighted some individual talent as a few soloists took front and center.
From native American culture to Holocaust refugees, and the Oswego Lighthouse to genealogical research, several Oswego County heritage sites have signed up to participate in the I Love New York Path through History Weekend June 20 and 21. “Oswego County has a rich and colorful heritage and we are indebted to our local historians and historic sites for keeping that heritage alive,” said Janet Clerkin, Oswego County Tourism and Public Information Coordinator.
“Tomorrow,” SUNY Oswego’s new strategic plan guiding the college to “greater impact and success,” recently won awards from two international organizations. It received a bronze award in the Council for Advancement and Support of Education’s Circle of Excellence competition and an Award of Excellence in the Awards for Publication Excellence program.
The following students received degrees at SUNY Polytechnic Institute’s 41st annual spring commencement May 9 in the Wildcat Field House on the SUNY Poly campus in Marcy.
WRVO Public Media, a multistation public radio network based at SUNY Oswego, has received a $40,560 grant from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. Titled Upstate Insight, the grant is helping to fund the coordination and sharing of regional news and public affairs coverage among stations serving Upstate New York.
The following Clarkson University students received awards at the annual University Recognition Day ceremony in April.
Since 1933, ham radio operators across North America have established temporary ham radio stations in public locations during field day to showcase the science and skill of amateur radio. This event is open to the public and all are encouraged to attend.
Danny Ziemann, the double bass instructor in SUNY Oswego’s music department, won second prize in the jazz division of the International Society of Bassists double bass performance competition, held in June in conjunction with the bassists’ biennial convention at Colorado State University.

Each class was allotted twenty-five minutes on the bus, where FPS Literacy Specialists and Oswego Bookmobile volunteers Erin Wilder and Christine Haessig, spoke to the students about the bookmobile summer schedule and book suggestions.
