50 Years Ago – Historic Blizzard Paralyzed Central New York
On Thursday night (Jan. 27, 1966), the snow began to come down heavily. By Jan. 28 it was a full-fledged snowstorm. Everyone in the “Snow Belt” coped. We had weathered snowstorms before. In fact, on Saturday, Jan. 29, there was a break in the weather. The storm had let up. No big deal. The area and its residents had survived another bout with Mother Nature’s snow machine. They always had, and always would. Then, all hell broke loose on Jan. 30!
