It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of William R. DeForest Jr. who moved on in the wee hours of the day, which is typical given that Bill was always an early riser, on Saturday, March 26, 2016, at Upstate University Hospital, Syracuse.

Robert Wilkinson, 85, of Pennellville, peacefully left this world on Good Friday, March 25, 2016, and is now reunited with his wife, Kathleen, and their many dogs.
Oswego Man Identified As Victim of Mexico Crash
UPDATED: The Oswego County Sheriff’s Office says 51-year-old Michael J. Fredette of Oswego was pronounced dead at University Upstate Hospital on March 26 following a rollover crash in Mexico Saturday evening. The driver, 51-year-old Douglas B. Horton of Mexico, was arrested for driving while intoxicated, deputies said.
Pet of the Week – Cassidy
Cassidy is a super friendly teenager, good with her foster mom’s little yippy dogs and her other cats. As you can see, she is also very affectionate toward people, so much so that it’s hard to take her picture because she wants to just rub against your legs. So you just have to trust us that she is very pretty with a little half bob tail.
Maritime Museum to Host Juried Lighthouse Art Show
As stewards of the Oswego West Pierhead Lighthouse, the H. Lee White Maritime Museum at Oswego is responsible for spearheading the physical restoration and historic interpretation of the iconic symbol of our city. As such, the Maritime Museum seeks to engage the local art community in this important effort through a series of art-based projects.
Coalition’s March Meeting to be in Fulton, Include a Guest Speaker
The Coalition to Combat Adolescent Substance Abuse in Oswego County will hold its next meeting on March 31 at 10 a.m. at the United Way of Greater Oswego County, 1 S. First St. in Fulton. Community members interested in learning more about the coalition and/or becoming a member, active or passive, are encouraged to attend the monthly meeting.
Mary West Earns Cross Country Academic Award
The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced its annual All-Academic Team award and Rensselaer Polytechnic Student student-athlete Mary West was among the award winners. To earn that distinction, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher and finish in the top 25 percent at their respective regional.
Students Thank Police Officers
Third grade students from Fitzhugh Park School presented Police Survival Kits to the Oswego City Police Department on March 22. These students filled bags with candy and a thank you note for each of the 50 patrol officers on the police force.
