SUNY Oswego chemistry professor Dr. Kestas Bendinskas and his student researchers recently shared in a grant for a preliminary study of stress markers and related effects among workers who take paid vacation time and those who leave some or all of it on the table.

Students at the Stepping Stones Day Program celebrated Poetry Month by participating in the Fourth Street School’s second annual Poetry Café. CiTi library media specialist Tammy Cummings said several students wrote their own poems after learning about various styles poetry in class and in the library media center, where the poetry event was recently held.
They include retiree of Springside of Seneca Hill Teresa Ferlito, ARISE Independent Living Manager and Oswego County Legislator James Karasek and Helen Hoefer of Catholic Charities.
“We are nearing the end of our almost two-year project. For our nomination to succeed, the process begins with community support,” said Phil Church, Oswego County Administrator and chair of the Nomination Task Force. Southeastern Lake Ontario is eligible for consideration due to the age, type and preserved state of numerous historic shipwrecks and many other features. The designation would be an economic boon to the region.
The following local residents recently were initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines.
Dan Kapuscinski, public relations specialist at Oswego Speedway, was a recent guest at Oswego Rotary. Kapuscinski is a local guy who not only raced at the speedway but has been involved with the World Racing Group and DIRT Motorsports handling PR and promotions in North Carolina.
On Wednesday, investigators with the Oswego County Drug Task Force in conjunction with the New York State Police Special Operations Response Team and Contaminated Crime Scene Emergency Response Team executed methamphetamine related search warrants at two locations in Oswego County. As a result, three people were charged.
Phillip L. Crary, 54, of Hannibal, passed away suddenly on Wednesday April 20, 2016, at Upstate Hospital, Syracuse.
