Central Square School District pride was shown at an Arts and Academics Showcase held at Central Square Intermediate School May 12. The evening was complete with an egg drop, science projects, instrumental entertainment and students role playing famous historical characters.

The Fulton Police Department’s annual Bike Rodeo is going to be held June 4, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Fulton Community Center. This free event is focused on youth bicycle education and safety and there will be other information and attractions including air hop rides and food and drinks. The event will be held rain or shine.
City residents turned out to their polling places today (May 17) to vote on the Fulton City School District 2016-2017 school budget and numerous other propositions including two open seats on the Board of Education. All propositions passed with a total of 967 voters. Oswego’s budget was also approved and two newcomers will join the school board.
Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman, New York State Police Superintendent Joseph A. D’Amico, and Syracuse Police Chief Frank Fowler today (May 17) announced the indictment of 72 people charged with operating two drug distribution rings: one that allegedly transported heroin, cocaine and narcotic pills between New York City and Syracuse; and a second that allegedly sold cocaine in the suburbs of Syracuse and in adjacent Oswego County.
The Altmar-Parish-Williamstown Central School District JV and Varsity Girls’ Volleyball will move from the winter sports season to fall sports season for the 2016-2017 school year. The decision to move to the fall has been in discussion for the past two years. Many factors went into making the decision.
The Central Square Central School District will host its second annual “Redhawk Relay,” a community-wide walk-a-thon to raise awareness and “Fighting Funds” for the American Cancer Society on May 20 from 5 to 10 p.m at the Paul V. Moore High School stadium.
Bruce Rodrick McRae, 79, a resident of Oswego, passed away on Tuesday May 17, 2016, at Oswego Hospital.
