Half-Shire Historical Society News – May 7, 2016
On Saturday April 30, the society held its monthly lunch meeting in Richland, with more than 32 people present. Longtime member Carol Burritt of Elbridge brought a dress and hand bag that belonged to her ancestor Elizabeth Harmon Kent (1773-1817) who was one of the first settlers of Redfield with her husband Deacon Amos Kent. The cotton dress is in remarkable condition and the patchwork handbag is a unique everyday item that is seldom passed down in such good condition.

The Oswego Bookmobile visits neighborhoods throughout the city of Oswego, Scriba and town of Oswego during the seven-week Driving Books Home summer program.
Oswego City School District, Chamber Aid CAC Pinwheels for Prevention
In recognition of Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention Month the Child Advocacy Center of Oswego County partnered with area schools and the Greater Oswego-Fulton Chamber of Commerce to help raise awareness of child abuse in Oswego County. Home and school associations and student councils in Oswego came together to be a part of the CAC’s Pinwheels for Prevention program.
Oswego Hospital Auxiliary to Hold Fundraising Dinner
Members of the Oswego Hospital Auxiliary will hold a fundraising spaghetti dinner from noon until 4 p.m. on May 22 at Bridie Manor in Oswego.

Area Volunteers Recognized For Outstanding Service to Girls
Girl Scout volunteers are the backbone of the Girl Scout organization. Without them the Girl Scouts would not be able to offer the amazing Girl Scout Leadership Experience to girls.
