Nurses from St. Luke Health Services, Michaud Residential Health Services and Bishop’s Commons announce a new date for their popular bone density screening. The screening will take place at the First United Methodist Church, 4372 Church St. in the village of Mexico, on July 11 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Huhtamaki – Fulton launched a food drive the week of June 6, to benefit the Salvation Army of Fulton. The event was organized by the Huhtamaki Community Involvement Team from conception through delivery of the items. This cross-functional team is comprised of members of all levels of the organization and was developed with the goal of performing activities to support the community where we work.
The Oswego Bookmobile program will run on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday for seven weeks from July 5 through August 19. The theme this summer is “On Your Mark, Get Set…Read!” Activities will focus on the many ways we stay in shape-mind, body, and spirit.
Kaylie Allen of Oswego saw not one, but four jaguars in the wild while traversing Peru’s Manu River in a small boat filled with fellow SUNY Oneonta students. The jaguar sightings were among many exciting moments during the 22-day tropical biology summer field course, which also included a rare glimpse of an anaconda curled up on a tree trunk in the Manu River.

The week of June 26 – July 2 has been designated the 19th annual “National Mosquito Control Awareness Week” by the American Mosquito Control Association. The active AMCA member from Oswego County, Donna Wilcox of The MSGW (Maggie Sue Glenister Wilcox) Foundation, Inc. presented “Maggie’s Story: A Survivor’s Perspective” at the association’s annual Washington DC conference.
Residents of The Gardens Assisted Living Community enjoyed a leisurely lunch along the shores of Lake Ontario when they visited one of Oswego’s favorite dining spots, Rudy’s Lakeside Drive-In.
Since 2013, nearly 70,000 tires have been disposed of through Senator Patty Ritchie’s events, which are made possible through special funding she secured to “Fight the Bite” by eliminating breeding ground for disease-carrying mosquitoes, as well as clean up our region.
